More on the nite
went to meet jan. hahaz, i was late. my dad tonpang me but there was heavy traffic along the way, so was held up. actually i missed a dinner for the dance nite today. by rite, i'm supposed to attend this dinner organised by my dad's uni alumni at some hotel to collect the book prize i won. boon won it too, but lesser money la. hahaz, so he represented me to give a speech on stage. i knew he could do it, coz he's in cldcs. and indeed, he done me proud; the audience broke into thundering applause after his speech.
back to meeting jan, i arrived at cityhall fifteen min late. when i saw her, i felt so happy!!! hahaz, it's been 5 mth plus since i saw her during prom. she hasn't changed much, maybe more mature looking. hahaz. anihow, we brisk walked to victoria and managed to make it in time. lucky for us, as victoria theatre and concert hall were both having concerts, some ppl got into the wrong place and there were some delay, allowing us to be 'on time'.
dance nite started. i can see that the mc were lousier than last yr's, esp the guy. then there was this opening item, "together", it's supposed to be rowdy but i felt it's kinda messy. some guy fell off the stage too...hmm...ok, then got "灵雨", by chinese dance. hmm...it's ok only la. and see the skills but i can't feel the 感觉 of the whole dance. oh, and got the alumni dance, "a sorta fairytale", goodness, so many modern dancers came back to dance, and we had no chinese dancers coming back this year...it's embarassing... and the latin ballroom dance was alrite only, not so exciting compared to last year's...(i must admit hide is really a good dancer). next, "虚无" by chinese dance, choreographed by yvonne, xin yi and zhu nian. not a bad piece though, quite modern feel. and by miss low mei yoke, "grandmother's tale", the girls danced with clogs and the dance is based on live music by malay drummers and singing by the girls. i quite like this one, not because of the dance moves, but coz it's innovative. after tt, we had a 15min interval. following, was "back to the future", some retreo dance; it's again innovative, but not striking enough. again, we had chinese dance back to stage with "茉莉茉莉". heard from xui wen tt its a simple piece and indeed it's so. music is easy to catch, actions are ok only. and later, we got jazz "fever", which i must say, it's not jazz at all. where are all the jazz moves? it becomes more like anihow dancing to the music. dotz... continuing, we got the long awaited piece by chi dance--"古扇新韵". but to my surprise, it's actually the same dance i saw in the syf by some sec school 3 yrs ago in sec 4... wad can i say...but lemme mention the last piece which i particularly like coz it recks the ambience to the peak. its called "get it on the floor" where it features 2 gangs of dancers trying to challenge each other. like a play + groovy dance moves. excellent way to display the street dance. but some things croped up again, think one guy was being pushed and he flew and knocked the other innocent girl down. the audience gasped upon that sight, praying tt the girl would be alrite...everything ended with a finale (as usual) and me and jan quickly scram coz we din prepare ani flowers for the dancers. hahaz.
as ninja's not coming to get me, i dun feel like going home early. went coffee bean @ clarke quay with jan to have a drink. there was so much nite life along boat quay, lined with pubs and clubs and restuarants. wow, i wanna go there next time! we had a long chat there, catching up on each other's lives, especially so when we are both in the same line (tution). it feels really nice to hang out and chat with friends till late, like those movies lidat. oh, and we got really excited talking bout going off for a holiday some time in june/july tgt. we were trying to recruit more ppl. yay~ while chatting, we din realised tt soh liling, caroline, geraldine and others happened to be sitting behind us...din know if we sud say hi, but we din eventually. we are 2 rivaling dance groups after all. wahahahaz. time passed like a flash and we had to be on our way home if not we would miss the last train. luckily we managed to board it @ 12am. i was worried tt i wouldn't be able to catch the last 812 home and was intending to walk the dark and lonely streets home from kahtib. smsed ninja if he would send me home from there but the reply came too late (with a "huh. now arh? u alight at kahtib alr ah?") after i decided to try my luck in yishun instead. fortunately, i did managed to catch the last bus, but my mood was brought down by ninja's reply which revealed a streak of reluctance to escort his gf home at this late hour.
eddy stayed over at my house...and i think he's a keen supporter of the opposition party too. lousy...
